Support & Answers

Frequently asked questions

Have questions about getting started? We've answered some of the most common ones below.

Who do you work with?
We provide therapy and assessment services for adolescents and adults. Our team has experience supporting individuals navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, life transitions, and more.
How do I get started?
The first step is reaching out. You can call us at 701-248-9295 or send a message through our contact form. We'll help match you with the right provider and walk you through the intake process.
Do you accept insurance?
We work with several insurance providers. Please contact our office directly so we can verify your specific coverage and discuss any out-of-pocket costs before your first appointment.
What is psychological testing and do I need it?
Psychological testing involves a series of standardized assessments to better understand cognitive functioning, emotional patterns, and diagnostic questions. It is often recommended when a clearer picture is needed to guide treatment or support academic and workplace accommodations.
Are sessions confidential?
Yes. Confidentiality is a cornerstone of our practice. What you share in sessions stays private, with limited exceptions required by law, such as situations involving imminent safety concerns. We will review these limits with you at the start of care.
How long does therapy take?
The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and what you are working through. Some people find meaningful progress in a few months, while others benefit from longer-term support. We will regularly check in with you about how things are going and adjust the plan as needed.
What can I expect in a first appointment?
Your first session is primarily a chance for us to get to know you, including what is bringing you in, what you have tried before, and what you are hoping to get out of care. There is no pressure to share everything at once. We will work at a pace that feels right for you.
Do you offer telehealth appointments?
Yes, we offer telehealth sessions for clients who prefer to meet remotely. Please contact our office to find out which services are available via telehealth and whether it is a good fit for your needs.
What are your session fees and payment options?
Our self-pay rates vary by service type and we accept cash, check and credit cards. If you plan to use insurance, contact our office and we will verify your benefits.
What is the No Surprises Act and does it apply to me?
The No Surprises Act is a federal law that protects patients from unexpected medical bills. If you are uninsured or choose to pay out of pocket, meaning you are not using insurance for our services, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate before your first appointment. This written estimate outlines the expected cost of services so you can plan ahead with no unexpected charges. We are happy to provide a Good Faith Estimate upon request. Please contact our office at 701-248-9295
What is your cancellation policy?
We ask that you provide at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations or missed appointments without sufficient notice may be subject to a fee.
How often will I need to come in?
Most clients start with weekly or biweekly sessions, especially early in treatment when building momentum matters most. From there, frequency is something we decide together based on your goals, how you are progressing, and what fits your schedule and budget. There is no one-size-fits-all answer and we will figure it out with you.
How do I know if therapy is working?
We set clear, collaborative goals at the start of care and check in on your progress regularly. You do not have to wait for us to bring it up, as we encourage your feedback at any point. Progress can look different for everyone, but you should generally feel like sessions are meaningful and moving you forward.
What if I don't feel like my therapist is a good fit?
The therapeutic relationship matters, and we want you to feel comfortable. If something is not clicking, please tell us, as we would rather know than have you quietly disengage. Depending on the situation, we can adjust our approach or help connect you with another provider, whether within our practice or elsewhere.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. Our team provides therapy and psychological assessment, not medication management. If medication might be helpful as part of your care, we are happy to coordinate with your primary care provider or provide a referral to a psychiatrist.
What should I do if I'm in crisis?
We are not an emergency or crisis service. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. For mental health crisis support, you can also call or text 988 to reach the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. If you are an existing client and have an urgent concern between sessions, please contact our office and we will do our best to respond promptly.
